My Favorite Summer Bag

13 Jun

It’s summertime, which means I find myself heading to the pool or beach quite often. I refuse to schlep my stuff around in just any old bag, which is why I’m always on the lookout for a pretty tote. I purchased the below beautiful basket at a local farmer’s market when I was shopping with my mom. We both were in need of a chic catchall for the beach and fell instantly in love with the hand-woven baskets from Ghana, West Africa.

These baskets are super roomy and excellent for travel. They are perfect for a day at the beach or carrying produce home from the farmer’s market. If they become squashed or misshapen due to wear, just simply wet the fibers and reshape.

One of the best parts about purchasing the basket was that the proceeds provide the weavers (and their families and villages) with much needed care and support. If you’re interested in buying a chic basket like mine, visit Baskets of Africa or African Market Baskets. You may also find them at Whole Foods or your local farmer’s market.

Happy summer!

xoxo, Andi
