I’ve always wanted to be good at sewing. I even took a class or two at the local JoAnn Fabrics when I was in high school. Sadly, my skills never developed beyond hemming pants or replacing a button.
One of my goals this year was to dust off the ole’ sewing machine and try my hand at a few sewing projects; in particular, curtains for our living room and throw pillows for the couch. It’s now September and I haven’t made any progress toward accomplishing those two tasks. However, thanks to a recent sewing tutorial from the blog, A Beautiful Mess, I’m now back in the sewing saddle!
Take a peek below at the cute zip pouches I created:
Not only did I have to install a zipper, both bags are also lined! My husband was quite impressed with my sewing skills. Yay for being domestic! 😉
During the sewing process I had to modify the pattern a bit – my local fabric store didn’t carry leather or chevron, so I had to do a bit of math to come up with new dimensions. Nevertheless, the tutorial was really easy to follow and turned this novice into a sewer again!
