Now and again I get into a debate with someone who claims that the nearly ubiquitous e-reader will soon kill the demand for printed books. Now I wholeheartedly disagree with this viewpoint for many reasons, but my main defense is the role books play in decorating. Can you imagine styling a book shelf without books – the word “book” is in the name of the shelf for heavens sake!
Books are an incredibly versatile design element. Like denim, they are timeless and go with everything. For this post, I wanted to showcase four great ways to style books, and hopefully reinforce the relevance of the printed book!

Thanks Meredith! You’re such a great stylist. I’m really enjoying the pictures of your new NC “apartment”!
I agree with you. Books are a wonderful way to make a space warm and inviting.
Thanks Laura!
Love the color coded style. I might have to buy books just for color now
Haha love it – judge a book by it’s color! I style my books by color so I totally do this now.
