Rummage Sale Finds

3 May

This week the thrifting stars were aligned. I was driving one evening and happened to pass a church rummage sale. I’ve been on the lookout for inexpensive furniture to restore so I decided. And boy am I glad I did. I found two fantastic pieces of furniture – an antique cedar trunk ($20) and an antique sidebar/hutch ($26). When I saw the price tag for the pieces I nearly fainted. I immediately waved my arms in the air like a lunatic and yelled to the nearest church volunteer – “I’ll take them, I’ll take them!!!!” It was only after I paid that I realized: 1. I had no way of getting them into my car, and 2. I have no place to store them at my apartment. Luckily my parents came to my rescue and picked up the pieces and took them back to their house for storing.

Now I have a confession to make – I’m now hooked on rummage sales! They are like garage sales, but even cheaper. Aside from the furniture, I found a number of other great items (pictured above) – most of which were 50 cents or less! I was like a kid in the candy shop. My favorite find – the bright yellow lamp. I’ve been in love with yellow-base lamps for a while now and I got this one for $1.50. Each item needs a bit of TLC, however that is part of the fun with thrifted finds, restoring them to their original glory or turning them into something new!

Now I’m sure you’ve noticed I haven’t posted a picture of the furniture pieces I bought. Well in all the excitement of the sale, I forgot to take good quality pictures of the pieces, so you will just have to wait until the before- and-after posts. In the meantime, I will be restoring and styling some of the smaller items.

Have you ever been to a rummage sale?

xoxo, Andi

P.S. A big thank you to everyone who took my survey! I can’t wait to start implementing everyone’s suggestions.

Rummage sales, flea markets, garage sales, can’t get any better than that!
