Chic Market Totes

6 Jun

As a fruit and veggie lover there really isn’t anything better than the local farmers market. Stall after stall of produce ripe for eating – I feel like a kid in a candy shop and typically purchase way more than I can possibly consume. Normally I justify my overspending by saying I’m supporting the local food movement, however now I can blame it on my juicing habit!

I’m one of those gals who has a bag for every occasion, so naturally I have a lovely and colorful African basket (I blogged about the bag here) that I take with me to the market. I don’t know about you, but something just feels wrong about carrying organic produce around in a plastic bag! Apparently, I’m not the only one that feels this way. There are lots of really chic reusebale market totes to choose from. Here are some of my favorites:

Farmers' Market Totes

L to R: 1. Baskets of Africa – Market Basket;  2. Jenna Rose Handmade – Tree House Bucket Tote; 3. Mountain Khakis – Market Tote; 4. McLovebuddy – Meta Farmers Market Tote;  5. Houzz – Farmhouse Wire Market Basket; 6. Anthropologie – Malagasy Woven Tote

Remember that fresh produce is often not pre-washed, so make sure to select a bag that you don’t mind getting dirty. Feeling crafty? Here are three great tutorials for making your own chic reusable market tote:

Do you support your local food producers?

I love the DIY stencil project as well as the Coco bag – both could be used as a casual summer purse – don’t you think? (Especially the Coco bag) thanks for websites – I’ve pinned them for future projects!

Yes! The Coco bag was my favorite and would make an excellent summer purse!

Yes I do! I love to eat out at restaurants that use local producers too. I’m actually at one right now in Sacramento called Ten22, it’s Old Sacramento. The food is delicious, I’m having humus, bread, veggies, ( I don’t normally like celery but I tried theirs and it was perfect, not too crunchy!) also I’m having a selection of cheese with chutney and bread! Wonderful, all going down with a glass if Prosecco. Mmmmm:)

Sounds delicious! Wish I was there…a glass of Prosecco right now sounds great!
