If you knew me in real life, you would know that I am very petite. Which, for the most part, is a blessing, however when it comes to buying sunglasses (and bathing suit tops!), it’s a real curse. Because my face is long and thin, I can’t wear most styles of glasses. While everyone else looks super cool and trendy in the latest specs, I’m stuck choosing between one or two pairs a season that look decent, but never great.
Enter Warby Parker – the trendy online glasses company that lets you try before you buy. That’s right, you choose five frames and they ship them to you for free to try on in the comfort of your own home. A few weeks ago, I received an email from a Warby Parker staffer asking if I would be willing to introduce their latest specs to my readers. Considering how shopping for sunglasses is such a sore spot with me, you’d think I would have sent them packing! However, I actually have a soft spot for the company. Why? A few reasons: 1. Warby Parker gave a really interesting presentation at Alt Summit NYC in 2013 (a conference I attended at the Martha Stewart headquarters), 2. the company’s glasses are really chic, and 3. for every pair of glasses they sell, they give a pair to someone in need. The last reason is my favorite!!
At Warby Parker’s encouragement, I decided to select five different frames to try. A few days after ordering, the package was delivered and I opened the box to find five beautiful frames. Now usually the next part is the depressing bit for me; I try on a pair, they look dumb, my husband laughs hysterically. But this time, he said “Wow! Those actually fit your face!” Hooray! I happily tried on the remaining frames. My favorite pair was called Jasper:
Warby Parker’s glasses are a big win for the petite and small face community. With glasses trends shifting to fuller frames, it’s refreshing to find a few pairs that don’t extend well beyond the width of my face. Now I can wear the trendy specs too!
So if you’re in the market for some new frames, I would definitely encourage you to check out Warby Parker. Their spring 2014 collection is fab!
