Best of the Week

9 May

Happy Friday everyone! Below are some great reads and life tidbits from the week.

I’m attending Blogtacular this weekend!! I can’t wait to be surrounded by lots of inspiring women and share what I learn.

If you need a chuckle, check out the hipster alphabet.

How the Death of Home Ec Unraveled American Fashion. It certainly appears fewer and fewer people take pride in their appearance or wardrobes. Leggings certainly aren’t helping the situation.

8 things to remember when everything is going wrong. #6 really resonated with me. My favorite line: “Rarely do people do things because of you. They do things because of them.”

Experiences vs. Things. Which do you value more?

Which states are in the Midwest? Who knew there was any confusion!? As a Michigander, I’m shocked some Americans don’t think we’re a Midwest state!

Seriously considering DIYing my hat for Ascot next month!

Fantastic list of free stock photo websites for your blog or website.

I wrote an article about gluten-free flour for the Abe’s Market blog. It’s amazing how many foods can be made into useful flour!

This free Eames chair printable artwork is fab. I totally downloaded it and can’t wait to frame it. I’m secretly hoping it’s a series…

Not sure what to do with old t-shirts? Turn it into decorative twine!

When you get a moment, make sure to check out my recent posts:

To all the moms out there – Happy Mother’s Day!!

Andi, you’ve done it again for me! I strongly identify with several of your tidbits this week -1) I’m a retired “Home Ec” (now rebranded as Family and Consumer Studies) teacher and have always identified with fashion. And living in a college town…it’s amazing what those college girls wear! Hmmmmm 2) The ‘8 things’ and ‘experiences v things’ really resonated with me. 3) The fabric twine is a great idea although I don’t know if I could keep enough scraps around long enough to do it – sounds like you need a lot.
Have a great weekend – hugs.
