When it comes to reading blogs, I was late to the party. I never thought there was anything else out there besides celebrity gossip. But then I stumbled upon Design*Sponge (D*S) and have been a voracious blog reader ever since.
I have a special place in my heart for Design*Sponge as the first blog I ever followed. So naturally, when D*S’s founder, Grace Bonney wrote a book, I was thrilled. So excited in fact that I called my sister in Portland and asked her to attend one of Grace’s book tour events so she could get me a signed copy (sadly there were no stops in Michigan on her tour).
The book is now in my possession and I’ve devoured every word and page. If you’re a lover of home décor, design and DIY, you may want to add this book to your Holiday wish list.
Design*Sponge at Home is full of helpful and inspiring content, including home tours, DIY projects, flower arranging tips and before and after transformations. You will find no hard rules in this book, just lived in, eclectic and cozy spaces that feel real and attainable. The first half of the book will open your eyes to what’s possible and the second half provides you with tools and tricks to make what you envision a reality.
But what I like best about the book is it inspires readers to look at nearly every object in their surroundings as a potential DIY material or decorating opportunity. This mentality is something I strive to achieve every day.
So I encourage you to pick up a copy of the book, read it over a cup of tea, and feel inspired. There is so much eye candy, the book will surely keep your creative juices flowing through the dreary winter months.
