In any profession, being able to talk the talk is important. Knowing and using the correct terminology increases a person’s credibility and authority within an industry. For example, as an interior designer, it sounds better if you said the pattern of the below rug was chevron rather than zigzag. Or in the fashion industry, you would know that the below dress is not a just a tunic, but a caftan (something I just learned watching Project Runway All Stars!).
So, to increase my vocabulary and knowledge as a blogger, I have decided to start a regular column called “Technically Speaking” where I define the technical term for an object or design style.
I plan to write a Technically Speaking post each week and my hope is that this column will help broaden your fashion and interior design vocabulary too!
